More on Dell Remote Access and SingleClick Systems

As a follow-up to the blog from the other day about the Dell Remote Access solution, one of my colleagues had indicated that this was actually powered by SingleClick Systems, a company that we've been following in the home IT support space for a number of years. SingleClick offers products for home network management (HomeNet Manager) and configuration and for wireless network security. In January, they announced that they had added remote access to their home network software. Dell had been using their HomeNet Manager as a rebranded Dell Network Assistant.

In March, SingleClick announced that the remote access feature was available on 7,000 different mobile devices, including iPhones and Blackberrys. They demonstrated this feature at our CONNECTIONS™ 2008 event. Scot Zarkiewicz, SingleClick's CEO, was a speaker on a panel titled "PLACE SHIFTING + CONTENT STORAGE: Moving the Value of the Network Upstream."

In today's Wall Street Journal, Walt Mossberg wrote up a review on the Dell Remote Access service. He calls it "a worthy service that's worth a try."

Having Remote Access capabilities for PDA devices is very convenient. I am often on the go so being able to access documents from my home office straight to my iPhone saves me time and trouble.
