Entone announces hybrid set-top box solutions

Entone has made a couple of announcements related to hybrid set-top boxes at the IBC show:

• The launch and immediate availability of its WebVOD Hybrid TV solution: Entone’s WebVOD application is integrated with leading middleware solutions to significantly enhance IPTV services. By downloading the WebVOD application to subscribers’ settop boxes, IPTV service operators can now offer Hybrid TV services that combine the best of broadcast television and “over the top” (OTT) media services that were previously only available through separate store-bought devices.
• Kamai: a hybrid receiver featuring integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi capabilities which makes installation a breeze, yet still provides plenty of bandwidth for streaming high-quality HD video. Subscribers won’t need to rewire their homes or add expensive adapters to install Kamai. It connects to any standard Wi-Fi router and operates over any broadband connection including DSL and cable modem. Compared to other Wi-Fi solutions, 802.11n more than doubles the bandwidth available for streaming HD video and further enhances the quality of service for video streaming by utilizing multiple antenna technology.
